Chickenpox fever

Hi everyone,

I posted this on children's health, but it isn't getting much traffic.

DD (age 4) is on day 4 of chickenpox. She has had a temperature with them since day 1. Websites seem to say the temperature comes before the spots, and this is what happened with DD1 when she got them a few years ago, but DD2 seems to have the fever with the rash at the same time. Is a fever for this many days normal with chickenpox? She's also quite lethargic, but that's to be expected. Just interested in hearing about other people's experiences with them, as DD1, despite her spots being awful, sailed through them with no fever or other signs of illness.

Google says this: A fever associated with chickenpox typically lasts for 3 to 5 days before the rash appears, and usually subsides as the rash develops and progresses.

So her being on day 4 is still within the above guideline time. Have you given paracetamol?

Chickenpox

Chickenpox is a very contagious infection that causes an itchy, spotty rash. Read NHS information about chickenpox symptoms and when to get medical advice.

I read that JC, but it says "before the rash appears." Yes she has been taking paracetamol, but it isn't helping much at all. Obviously I can't give her ibuprofen.
