Neilsmed sinus rinse made me dizzy

Just used neilsmed sinus rinse for first time as had sinus pain and cold symptoms all week. Now have dizziness and ear pressure after first use. Anyone else? Will it ease soon? Was hoping this would be magic bullet for my sinus issues but now feel worse!

If you put an amount of liquid up your nose you can cause discomfort in the ears or Eustachian tubes because of pressure changes when you use a rinse.
Have you tried holding your ears and blowing to equalise pressure, like you do when landing in an aeroplane?

Thank you. Trying that now and also sucking on some menthol sweets. No improvement yet

I used one 2x a day and it can do this when you have a sinus infection - I'd go to the drs and get it checked.

Did it successfully drain out? Did you use it on both sides?

Maybe try a steam inhalation with a little Vicks/ Olbas Oil/ Eucalyptus/ Tea Tree in a bowl of steaming water with a towel draped over your head.

I'm not a medic though and haven't had your symptoms, as a medicated spray nasal decongestant, Neilmed Sinus Rinse or steam inhalation with Vicks/ Olbas usually work well for me.

Anecdotally, my teenager woke me once at 2am with intense ear pressure pain while suffering with a cold and congestion. I gave painkillers and suggested he use a nasal decongestant spray, (as he also had a blocked nose). It worked to relieve the pressure very quickly!

I hope you feel better soon. If in England, you can try a pharmacist or 111 for advice.

Thanks very much for your reply @CatsorDogsrule
i have been steaming with olbas oil and using Sterimar spray all week. I’ve had sinus pressure and headache but no congestion so suspected I had dry sinuses as a result of the cold weather so hadn’t used beconese or a decongestant, which would dry them out further. Will give it a try though and see what happens, thank you

I bought the nelimed nasogel which is working a lot better for my dry sinuses than the rinse (which I also hate!)

i Have that too! Not really given it a decent go though as not entirely sure what the issue with my sinuses is. Reoccurring sinus pressure and fatigue but no congestion. Although this week also had a slight cough and sneezy so a bit more of a cold I guess.

I wonder if you’ve got what I’ve had OP.

been 2 weeks now, intermittent dizziness, nausea (mostly gone now) but left with sinus headache. It’s better and then worse, never gone, but fluctuating symptoms. No congestion but my whole face hurts, my scalp, temples, jaw, top of head. Then it eases and it’s just forehead / nose for example.

a few people seem to think it’s a virus
