I know these blood test results are out of range, but don’t think it’s anything to worry about?

I had my bloods done this week to see if it is okay to increase a dose of some medication I’m on. They came back with a white cell count of 24 and neutrophils of 22.9 my monocytes and eosinophils are slightly low. I’ve got very obvious inflammation in my skin so it’s not really a surprise.

It was the nurse from the hospital that gave me my results and said she needs to speak to the Doctor but non committal otherwise.

The neutrophil count is significantly raised possible causes are infection or inflammation.

I do have very inflamed skin on my hands, arms and chest at the moment so that’s probably why. They aren’t very high.

Are you feeling unwell at all? WBC is quite high could you be fighting an infection?

Yourinmyspot · 06/02/2025 17:02

I don’t feel particularly unwell, my skin is very sore and inflamed which makes me feel quite cold and tired but I haven’t got a temperature or any other symptoms of anything.

I went for my usual weekly nurse appointment this afternoon for my hands and my arms are so hot and inflamed. She got the Doctor to come and have a look and took some swabs. She just held her gloved hand near my arm and could feel the heat coming off it. The Doctor prescribed me a double dose of Flucloxacillin, i told him what my bloods said and he said they are high. So hopefully they will come down.

The hospital didn’t phone back so they can’t be too worried.

My GP phoned this evening to change my antibiotics as the swab came back as resistant to the ones they gave me on Friday. He said if I start to feel unwell I have to go to hospital as my count is high. Luckily I feel okay in myself.

Hopefully you start to feel better after these antibiotics. Did they give you a diagnosis?
