Waking up dizzy

I have been waking up feeling dizzy for week and it's getting worse.

I have thought it could be migraine related but it's been going on way too long. I get hormonal migraines and wondered if this could be hormone or peri menopause related

I am now thinking it may be stress related, I am 3 months in to a new job that I am finding tough

Or could it be vertigo??

So I get quick flashes of dizziness quite often through the day that lasts a second or 2. But when I wake in the morning I feel drunk and I am so disoriented and anxious until I get up and get going!

Any advice appreciated

(Doctor recommended amytriptalin for the migraines and again for dizziness but I want to know more first)

Struggling :(

Poor you - there’s definitely a weird virus going round London at the moment with this strange dizziness. A few people in the office have had it. Not sure how long it lasts - a few days from what I can tell.
Having suffered through peri and full menopause I would say just assume every new odd ailment is down to that. When I went on the right HRT (that’s a story in itself) pretty much everything was cured. It was bonkers. X

Ahhhh thank you!!! I do think this of every symptom at the moment but this dizziness could be many things and starting to worry me (I am not a worrier about health) but I'm a get up early and get busy type of person and I wake up feeling spaced and drunk

happy44 · 01/02/2025 21:56

I get it but think it's my neck and a touch of arthritis and the way I've slept sometimes. I get woozy scrolling on a laptop, phone tablet these days too. Menopause, the gift that keeps on giving.

Sounds like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BBPV) especially if you have it in the morning from lying down.
Go to the doctors they will look in your ears, give medication and send you to see someone to do some head movements to sort.
Not serious and easily cured.

Might be worth looking up the Epley manoeuvre. You can do it yourself, it won't do any harm, and if you have BPPV (where some of the balance crystals in your ears have shifted) it might help.
