White spots on tonsils

I noticed white spots on my right tonsil on Sunday, went to the doctors on Monday who said it’s tonsillitis but didn’t need antibiotics, the pain has gone but the white spots on my tonsil are still there which is worrying me, how long do the white spots last?

Usually they go away in a few days for me. You only need antibiotics if you have a temperature and are feeling very unwell, generally.

They could be tonsil stones. Have you got a photo? Tonsil stones look slightly different to tonsillitis exudate.

If you zoom in you can see the white, don’t think it’s tonsil stones

@Firstbaby1234 you're right, it definitely looks more like tonsillitis than tonsil stones. Provided you have no fever and feel ok, they should go away on their own.

@Covidwoes my throat doesn’t hurt at all anymore but the white spots don’t seem to be going :(

Gargle with some sea salt rinse

Did he do a swab and culture?

@Covidwoes the white is still there but i don’t have a sore throat, I have started with a tickly cough today though. The doctor last week said I had tonsillitis but I thought the white would have gone now
