what's best for diarrhoea?

dd seems to get diarrhoea a lot. I don't know what's causing it but she's usually in good form even when she has it. What would be the best foods to give her while she has it or is there a good medicine I can give her?

Could it be intolerance?

SenoraPostrophe · 07/05/2008 12:44

how old is she?

dd got and still gets diarrhoea a lot but i never worry because she doesn't get ill. mum calls it "toddler diarrheoa" (although she had it a lot up to age 5) - she eats a lot of fruit and her gut is young - i think that's all it is. I tried cutting out some foods to see if it was an intolerance, but didn't really get anywhere. I guess I could have cut out all fruit, but that seems mean!

oh - I do keep her off milk though when she's been ill. that always sets her off.

It may be an intolerance. I have a feeling it might be white flour. She'll be 8 in a couple of weeks and gets it about every 4 months

surely she has white flour more often than every 4 months though?

PenelopePitstops · 07/05/2008 12:50

something like dirolyte will keep her hydrated, or jus plain water to make sure she stays hydrated

quickdrawmcgraw · 07/05/2008 12:53

Well we usually have wholemeal bread and pasta so unless it's in other things I'm not aware of probably not.
She eats a huge amount of fruit so it may also be that.

but surely brown flour contains everything that white flour contains with some extra stuff? I'm not sure you can be intolerant of specifically white flour, but I could be wrong.

You're probably right. I don't really know much about this sort of thing. Can you tell?

She has also has a runny nose for what seems like months. The two may be conected to an intolerance
