Driving me insane

I’ve had this itchy rash under my lower lip since July 2024. I’ve been to the drs a few times who have prescribed hydrocortisone cream which doesn’t seem to do anything, it someone’s makes it worse. They also advised to only use Vaseline which I have used religiously daily but doesn’t seem to do very much. I thought it may be a toothpaste allergy so I have switched to a SLS free one over the last 4 months but it’s still not budging and so itchy.

Has anyone experienced this or have any advice? I do suffer from eczema but hydrocortisone cream normally relieves it. As a kind of newly single 34 year old who has a face to face job, I would love to feel normal again.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the strange picture.

I've had something similar, it comes and goes. Currently I'm having success with Bepanthen antiseptic cream. It is so soothing! I've only been using it for about two days but I think it's getting better. Anything with Vaseline just dried my lips right out. I have also read that it could be a vitamin B2 or iron deficiency? That was more in respect of cracked lips which I've also been experiencing. So I'm taking B complex vitamin tablets too.

That’s a great idea, thank you I’ll give that a go. The first thing I tried was vitamins but sadly no change. My next thing is looking into a potential food allergy. Thanks again

Look up perioral dermatitis and see if it rings true. If it's that, steroid creams can make it worse.

When I get things like this, the blistex medicated cream in the white tube usually gets rid of it. Not sure if you've tried that but Vaseline does nothing for me either!

Agree with previous poster, Blistex or Carmex works for me.

Fiucidin cream will work. I get excema and angular chellitis and anti bacterial cream does the trick.

If you stretch your mouth does it appear to be yellow and tight and not like plump skin? This means it's infected. You don't need anti biotic but anti bacterial cream.

I get it every now and then.

Steroid cream deffo makes it worse and vaseline is the worst thing ever for it.
