Baby lymph nodes

I took my baby girl for her 8 week check and mentioned she had a swollen lymph node on the back of her neck it’s small but you can feel it like a little pea and the doctor said to keep an eye on it and she’d check at her next jabs to see if it was there, it was there for a week or so and it’s been 2 weeks and it’s still there. Has anyone had anything similar with their little ones?

I had this with two of my babies when they were exactly this age. And my cousin had it with hers too. GPs ‘kept an eye’ but were very reassuring. I will say though that they didn’t disappear for a few months, and the more you prod and poke at that, the longer they take to go down in my experience.

Mobile, smooth pea-sized lymph nodes are not an uncommon finding in babies and toddlers and it is very rare for them to represent anything sinister.

Keep an eye in the way you would anything, but try not to worry and don’t let it ruin your precious newborn experience. And don’t drive yourself mad googling!

My DS, now 6, had one at his in the same place and I was similarly worried. It has never gone down, has been checked a few times and is nothing nefarious at all. It's great you're being monitored and they aren't worried.
