My dear (male) relative (74) had an Xray following 8 weeks of treatment for persistent chest infection/cough. Cough seems to be a bit better now. His doctor said the xray has shown something on the upper lung and they don't know what it is. Some sort of shadow/spot. He has been referred for CT which is next week. He feels well, not coughing as much and much brighter in himself now.
Of course he is thinking lung cancer, and as much as anyone would like to think otherwise it is something that's on his mind. His doctor said it could very well be scarring from the lung infection and the CT will tell more about the size, shape etc which will help with diagnosis. Hopefully it is scarring or something benign like that.
Has anyone any good news stories about investigations for something like this, or indeed other outcomes to prepare us? I think it's scarring or something like that myself as he is much better now than from mid November until recently. But no one knows yet.
