Feeling of pressure/lump in throat - is it Globus?

Hi everyone

A few weeks ago I found a bony lump in my collarbone for which I became incredibly anxious about. The next day I developed the sensation of having something stuck in my throat, almost like a hair that was stuck. This carried on throughout the week where it was almost feeling like a full on lump/pressure in my throat area.

Anyways, my bony lump turned out to be nothing and so I thought I would relax, but 2 weeks later and I still have this sensation in my throat. It feels like my throat muscles are tight rather than something stuck there, but when it's at its worse its both. I don't feel it so much when I lie down, and when I wake up. The more I think about it /swallow to try and clear it, the worse it gets.

I've googled symptoms and Globus Sensation comes up a lot, but there doesn't look to be any cure annoyingly. I may go to my GP again to check there is nothing going on with my thyroid, but I feel well with good appetite, no problems breathing/eating/swallowing and no physical lump that I can see/feel.

I've heard Omeprazole can help? Does anyone else have any advice?

Omeprazole will help if its linked to reflux.
If you think it's tension ( really common) then any full body relaxation will help. Try and find a 30 min audio full body progressive relaxation.
Then do some really gentle face massage as well as screwing your face up tight as can be and then relaxing. Yawning helps release tension from throat, try and yawn with a nice relaxed long sigh as the air comes out.
If it doesn't got away you could ask to be seem by ENT ( likely to be long wait) also some speech therapy services help with globus ( but always on nhs).

Did you get to the bottom of this or find anything that helps? I’ve had this on and off for nearly 5 years. When Covid hit I had a a feeling of broken glass in my throat, the dr said it was reflux (I believe it stemmed from undiagnosed Covid at the time). I was put on omeprozole too. Things persisted and I also developed the sensation of something stuck in my throat and wanting to clear it all the time. I was then put on famotidine as well as omeprozole. I underwent an endoscopy and also had a tube down my nose and down the throat for 24 hours to monitor the reflux. Then had a barium sallow test. Showed inflamed oesophagus (oesophagitis). Consultant said that he would not offer anything surgical and to continue med, avoid heavy meals at night and lose weight. I would just like any tips on how to ease this sensation, seems like you have to avoid nearly everything in my view! My dr said she may refer me again to the consultant.
