Reflux or Cough

I have asthma and from beg Nov to mid December had 3 courses of antibiotics for a chest infection. When I started my 3rd course I had the beginning of acid reflux, a sore throat and a bit of heartburn but usually when I was hungry. Following the 3rd course reflux is much worse, I was advised to take Gaviscon which I did, which helped once my cough had eased off. I've got a bit of a cold this week, not feeling ill though and after coughing have heartburn/reflux and when I lie down can feel/hear gurgling coming from my chest. It's better after a big coughing fit but soon comes back. I'm just so confused as to whether it's reflux or a cough.
After my 3rd course of antibiotics I did have a chest x ray which was clear.

Gurgly sound indicates regurgitation...stomach contents coming back up your oesophagus.. reflux.

It's awful isn't it. Keep on with the gaviscon and try a PPI from GP if gaviscon alone doesn't work. Avoid any acidic foods and try sleeping slightly more upright.

I'm a HCP and have a lot of patients with reflux...advise the above x

P.s - The coughing will be caused by the acid irritating your vocal cords

Thank you that's really helpful. I was confused as when I'd googled it said a dry cough where as mine is very 'wet' sounding and I do feel as if I have phlegm stuck but can';t get it up, I also have a rustle in my right side rib area which goes after a good coughing session but equally having reflux too.

Yes it's horrible, previously I've only had heartburn and ocassionally a sore throat with reflux so I hadn't realised it could be so different to that and so horrible.
