Coil- first period

How was your first period?

Had the coil 2 weeks ago, it went as smooth as it could go.

Now Im due on, I keep getting contraction style pain on one side. Very sharp, but very quickly its over. And on and off, each time it is met with spotting when I wipe.

I am due on, is this it?

The pain is worse than before, more intense but on and off like a contraction, and mainly one sided.

My womb lining was thick so maybe its because of that.

Is this how it will be each time? I dont mind if it is.

its just different

First period after coil wasn't nice at all. I've had it in since October and been fine since, in fact I wish I'd done it years ago.

First period was really awful. In fact the first 3 were pretty awful. Each month got better, I'm now at 6 months and it is ok.

I went from really painful but regular periods to lots of small spotting throughout my cycle and intermittent pain. The coil hasn't been the perfect solution but it is probably better than the alternative. The consultant said to allow up to 6 months for it to settle. I feel like everyone I know has a better experience than me though

I don't remember them being much worse in the long run, if anything they were less painful. Much less aching and groin pain.

Thanks. Yes I'm hoping it is something that passes. Xx

The one-sided contraction style pain has passed, I now have tummy cramps in the centre like usual period pains.

Just passing very little blood.

Hopefully all just settling in pains!

Oh and lower back ache.

ugh, update:

Whilst the contraction style cramps went, I got more typical period craps followed by a usual period probably more cramps than normal. Started by spotting & took a while to get going. But seems to be dragging out & so are the cramps.

Suppose if my womb lining is thick it will need to shed to become thinner.

Never had a period with the Mirena coil once it was in , I have heard horror stories about the copper coil and extremely heavy periods .

& it has come out 🤯 felt a sharp pokey pain when doing the school run & thought best check that later. Just checked & it was in my vagina 😫

I had so hoped this was the case, my iron levels are rubbish!

i only spotted when it was put in and earlier this week. However my pains the last 2 days have been bad. Typical my body has expelled it 🙄. ffs.
