On Saturday my ds10 came down with severe vomiting and diarrhea, after around 3hrs of this he collapsed/fainted on the toilet and we rushed him to a&e. He has coeliacs disease so we didn't know if it was this or a bug. Two days spent in hospital infectious ward on a drip, discharged on Monday afternoon and then Monday night my dh & I both came down with it so that confirmed it wasn't a glutening definitely stomach bug. I have never felt this ill in my entire 36yrs of life - no exaggeration!

It's been 3 days since my ds last threw up or had D but he's still very weak and fatigued, he's lost 3lbs (gutted because we've been trying so hard to gain since coeliacs diagnosis and now he's going to have to go on ensure), it's been 2 days since DH and I last threw up or had D, my fever broke last night, I still feel like utter hell. Really nauseous, everything hurts, stomach pain and gurgling.

It's been about 7yrs since I last had a stomach bug and it was definitely not this bad, how long until we feel remotely human again? We've barely moved from bed/bathroom for over 3 days ffs.

Always wonder how people can be so sick - surely you can only throw up the contents of your stomach then that’s it? Unless the following times are bile? I had a horrible bug a few years back but only threw up once. Felt absolutely rubbish for at least a week though & had diarrhoea 😢

I had food poisoning and didn't throw up but had diarrhoea pretty much every 15 mins for over a week
Didn't realise the body could hold so much, and I wasn't even eating anything

@Nogodsnomasters thank you so much for checking in.

He hasn't been sick since 10am and no diarrhoea. But he's been really, really miserable bless him. The old me would be reassured that he's fine now but after the 6 day saga last week I don't have any faith 😵‍💫

I've got a stock of anti sickness drugs from morning sickness (I'm 26 weeks wahoo 🤪) which I've got next to me like a security blanket. Just hoping I don't catch the bug. Looking forward to him demanding cake again

I completely understand that you have no reassurance that he's better 🥺 I hope he slept okay for you?

So glad you have the anti sickness tablets! I also have the cyclizine ones my family member brought me, I ended up taking one last night again during my panic!

@Nogodsnomasters

"Dh is an idiot who doesn't listen and had a fucking sausage roll which he majorly regretted yesterday afternoon"

I am sorry you are having such a (literally) shit time.

But this made me laugh out loud.

You win the internet tonight. Thanks for making me laugh - Hope it all passes soon 💐

Typical DH behaviour in my house! Lol. Glad it made you laugh 😁

Did you find the cyclizine helpful?

I slept in a different room to my son for the first time in his life... it was actually lovely! My husband slept with him instead and I think he's a bit shocked by how uncomfy co-sleeping is. In all my anxiety I forgot to take my venlafaxine so had a night of weird dreams and night sweats 😅

He hasn't been sick in 24 hours now. Husband and I are fine and it's 36 hours since it all started. But son is feeling miserable on the sofa watching Bluey :(

Pepto bismol.

It hasn't been available for a few years in the UK but it has just come back in stock, it's on the Boots website atm and apparently Sainsbury's are stocking it too. I have just got some from Boots (I have IBS-D which is really bad atm).

That stuff works like magic (tastes awful and turns your poop black but it's worth it). I hope you all feel better soon.

Thank you for this amazing news. It's been unavailable in Europe for about 3 years. My adult DSD has been keeping me supplied as she lives in the US. I can stop requests Peptobismol for Christmas.

Get well soon OP!

Better today, still having major reflux and eating only very small amounts but actually left the house today for the first time in 5 days!! Took the kids to the cinema to see sonic 3 because they both deserved a treat after this hellish week.

Glad your little boy is going in the right direction today!

Aww I bet they loved that!

Sorry if it's already been mentioned or if you already take it, but you can get omeprazole for reflux without a prescription from a pharmacist. You can buy it online too. Kind of thing that's good to have in the medicine cupboard

My husband has chronic reflux but started taking daily lansoprazole (same class of drugs) and it's hugely improved his quality of life

hulahoopbbq · 26/01/2025 01:01

@Nogodsnomasters

I don't think it was the same strain. I caught it first at work the day before it all kicked off at work and many of us got taken out that week.

The next time I caught it from my husband who we think caught it at his work (non hospital)

I'm assuming the currently situation at my work is the same strain as the first one.

Just a nightmare. I'm typing this now as I woke up feeling horrendously sick but luckily it just seems to be "me" I often feel sick. Phew!

I'm already on a daily PPI as I have GERD anyway but I had missed a few doses while in the height of noro so I'm assuming maybe a rebound thing since I missed a few?

God that's awful that you had two so close together. I hope you don't get it again at work 🤞
