My DH had 10 days of black tarry stools and off his food. He returned a positive FIT test before Christmas.
He was referred under the 2 week pathway and has an endoscopy and colonoscopy this week.
His stools are back to normal, though going more often than before.
He also had an ache below his ribs, but that has stopped.
He occasionally gets tummy ache but that too is getting less frequent and he can go 4 days where he feels almost ‘normal’.

Any ideas please?
Many thanks x

Could be anything chrons, IBD, colitis, gallstones, kidney stones or nothing, but it’s good he’s being checked out. Same happened with my DH he was diagnosed with colitis through biopsies taken at colonoscopy and the bowel cancer screening department rang to tell him once the results were ready.

Does he take NSAIDS eg ibuprofen naproxen? This can cause internal bleeding and stomach pain.
goodbye has his endoscopy this week they can usually tell on sight if there is anything to worry about so they should let him know what they think straight way though they will wait for biopsies to be back to be 100%

No he doesn’t take those. Lansoprazole for reflux, Losartin for Bp (preventative) and Atorvastatin x
