hi my dd 10 month has started to HOWL while crying (sounds like animal howling) and she has never done this before. Waking up in the middle of the night and also very early in the morning. She had two bottom teeth when she was 5 months old and now front top teeth is 2/5th come out last 2 weeks. She had high temperature for last three days and now started howling even though she doesn't get temperature anymore. Could this be something else..ear infection....

Well it could be...I was hoping it was just teething the other day, for you

Is she hitting the side of her head or anything, to indicate she is in pain? Pulling at her ear?

However if the temp has gone I would not be too concerned, as if she had an infection it would still be there.

Mind you, babies do change their noises and cries and so on, it always freaked me out with my first, but now I just think 'he has found a new way to communicate and is testing it' iyswim.

If the temp returns, try to see your GP x

My DH swears that he can "smell" an ear infection!!!!!...I now believe him cause he has always been right.....Smell the ear for a nasty whiff....see what you think..he is in the shower at the minute if you need any help with smell "type"...Hope she feels better wehn she awakes.

Can you take her to the GP??

I would still take her even if she doesn't have a high temp, have heard of ear infections without high temps!

hello. thank you very much. I think 'she has found a new way to communicate' might be right at the moment. She has started crying for everything and she has never done this before. Tiny tiny things will start her with this crying which is starting to get at me and DH. Thanks very much for support and I don't think she's ill anymore she has just started to whinge and started a weird routine where she gets up in the night for bottle of milk (3 ounce maximum) which she hasn't done since she was 6 months old.
