Loss of taste/smell for no apparent reason

Just wondering if anyone else has had this before? Does it come back? I was thinking it could be due to all the viruses going around at the moment but I've been symptomless of cold/flu. I had a baby 3 months ago but it's only been the last week or so. I can taste and smell but it's been dumbed down greatly and I can't taste certain things so well anymore. I used to have a dog nose and that's definitely gone.

Obvious question but have you done a Covid test ?
You may well have a virus which is symptomless at the moment

I would be suspecting Covid too. My understanding is that illnesses that come with loss of taste or smell are unusual.

I guess it could have been Covid but I've had no symptoms

Could it be that your sense of smell was heightened while pregnant and now it’s back to normal?

yipyipyop · 18/01/2025 12:34

@SnowflakeSeason no I've always had a very heightened sense of smell

Covid is one of the most well known and common viruses that cause odd or no symptoms.

You're clearly showing covid symptoms, you probably have covid

My sense of taste and smell was off for months after covid but given that you have no other symptoms and you have recently been pregnant you should really see a doctor if it’s not improving soon.
