Does this sound like thrush? Sex.

Hi,

I’ve already been to GP twice this week. Monday and today. I thought it was a UTI but not classical symptoms. The doctor said on the dip test there was some white cells and protein. Sent it off and negative. I’ve always found the tests never work and even when they’re sent off!

This I all feel started immediately after sex. I’ve been dating someone new, the Thursday we used condom (skyn latex free - but there was a scent too it even original) with my ex I never used as was long term relationship and at start was dif. I was never prone to thrush or UTI luckily after even if he finished (which I’d think that would be a trigger) With this guy i’ve been seeing for while on dates but just sexually active recent with him in past week. The first time I felt fine, didn’t feel dry condom used. Thursday.

the second time Friday didn’t use condom (i know not the ideal there) I felt very dry during and he had to try make things not so dry! (Mouth / fingers)these are two things ex never did! And then we did go again but he never finished inside. So I’m unsure if I’m now doomed my sex life with this person after years of being fine! As did have a thrush issue many years ago! And now worried whats set it! Ie dryness, the condom from previous day (mouth etc) or

I felt the Friday night something off right away, I did pee after, showered slightly later than normal..due to doing again. I felt thrush would cause itching or UTI would cause frequency where as this has been a feeling of warmth/tingly sensation higher up internally. It wasn’t worsening when peeing it was just there constant! Not painful..now today a week after I feel its burny sensation and itchy at times. it just feels off it hasn’t felt painful but just weird. Doc examined and said looks like thrush but to me I thought it would be more itchy from get go. Plus i’m in ovluation according to calendar. Doctor has done a swab and I’ve taken fluconazole just today.

i don’t feel any relief yet but unsure if thats not gonna happen anyway, I’m kinda still worried its not thrush
then if I take antibiotics it will set thrush off!

  1. how long would you give until commence sex again? I don’t want to go in a cycle
  2. How long can fluconazole take for affect?
  3. IF I used lube in future for dryness could that set things off? I see a brand YES looks good but again scared to put anything there as due to past history always made sure never to put any soaps scented etc.
(understand maybe not gps but experiences will help )

use lube and protection if you go again, you REALLY need your new partner to treat himself for thrush too or you will for sure be in a cycle

don’t know but thrush can be stubborn, especially by the sounds of hours it can be high up in your vagina rather than module around your labia. Keep up the treatment, hit iron the crotch of your underwear to kill off fungus on there too.

use a water based lube, there’s no reason really why this should irritate you. Hopefully your dryness issue is linked to thrush and will right itself. How old are you also? Could it be hormonal?

It’s not unusual at all for guys to harbour thrush even without symptoms, defo needs to be treated
