(Sorry if been asked before)

have you tried warmed olive oil?

avenanap · 05/05/2008 19:55

rub baby oil into it, use a soft brush to gently brush it away.

Tommy · 05/05/2008 19:55

olive oil
put it on a few hours before bath, then wash it off and comb the cradle cap and it comes off - very satisfying in an icky sort of way

olive oil, leave on for say 15mins, then brush with a soft brush.
Wash hair & rinse.

Brushing every day (even if there's not much hair!) can help keep it down.

olive oil on the scalp at night massaaged gently in then brush with a soft brush in morning and wash to remove flakes. Repeat as neccesary but DO NOT pick at it. HTH

Olive oil on the head at night - use a soft brush in the morning. Takes a while but much gentler on the little mites head.

too late!

cheesesarnie · 05/05/2008 19:57

also the olive oil is lovely on your hands afterwards

Pheebe · 05/05/2008 20:30

yes, lots of olive oil, works a treat and believe me i tried everything with ds2. the olive oil really softens it up...i ended up picking it off rather than brushing as that seemed to annoy him less...quite satisfying in a yukky scab picking sort of way

cheesesarnie · 05/05/2008 20:42

and good for ezcema .i love olive oil!

MorocconOil · 05/05/2008 20:43

Detinox worked for my DD.

Bedbug · 05/05/2008 20:44

Detinox cradle cap shampoo from the chemist. Cradle cap is cause by the over production of sebum. It's often a response to the mother's hormones delivered through breast milk. Cradle cap therefore caused by too much oil. Adding olive oil can make the whole scalp turn to yukky skin and sebum slush. Detinox will clear it in a couple of washes.

I used oil and a nit comb. Worked a treat but mind you don't get carried away and hurt the DC!

Shitemum · 05/05/2008 20:47

...by the way, comb against the direction of hair growth. It lifts the cradle cap up easily as it's sort of stuck to the hairs growing through it iyswim

My2Weegirls · 05/05/2008 20:49

don't use olive oil if baby has a lot of hair. both mine had/have lots of hair so using olive oil just made them look like they've dipped their heads in a chip pan and it does not wash out easily!

i used dentinox, a comb and my nails to pick at bits. brush the scalp on a daily basis as well.

Habbibu · 05/05/2008 20:50

Lord - I did nothing - just waited for the hair to grow in and hide it...
