Arthritis pain

Hello!

I've had arthritis in my foot for a good 4/5 years now, the pain has been manageable lately - i was seeing a doctor on it, he done 3 lots of steroid injections that did nothing at all, so he decided the next step to take was an operation where he would put pins in my foot.
I decided against it until it got worse. Last night I woke up in so much pain with it, I cannot walk on my foot today at all, I can't put weight on it, it's throbbing constantly - I've been in pain all day. I don't know why it's got so bad all of a sudden. I called the doctors - they don't have an apt until 28th as I was thinking to go ahead with the operation- the receptionist said she also suffered with it and said she doesn't think I should go for the op so young, I am 34. She advised when I speak to doctor - to be asked to be referred to an arthritis doctor where he could offer anti inflammatory tablets or special ones for it, I didn't know this was an option.

Anyone on here had this and could give some advice?

Also in the meantime until my doctors apt - how do I manage this pain? I can't put any weight on it at all, not sure how I'm going to deal with it until 28th and even then they can't do anything!
If this pain doesn't go - is there anything they can do at hospital?

Thank you
Emma
