I’m 47 yrs old. I’ve had blood tests done, and all came back normal , saw GP again as I have palpitations and fast heart rate.he checked me and said he would do an ecg but my appointment is still 10 days away. He didn’t seem concerned but I do have a heart murmor he couldn’t hear anything unusual l, except he mentioned tachycardia or something like that. He also said my hormones level la from my blood tests are the only thing showing that might be causing all my symptoms and I am menopausal stage or beginning of it so my estrogen levels are going down and this could be causing some symptoms. He said the l sensible thing to do is definitely get an ecg and a heart monitor for 24 hrs.

I saw same GP around 15 months ago for a. Shooting ache across my breast annd thought it was my heart but he found a lump., it was checked out and turns out Ive got fibrosis cicistic breast? All looked fine and was told some women just have that, it oftens aches there so I’m never sure if it’s heart or not!

Funny he said I was too young when I mentioned peri last year! lol and that because I’m still having periods it’s not peri. Now he is telling me it is as my hormones level are showing peri. I have more heart palpitations and all sorts of aches going on so I always get checked out.

can I ask if you’re peri symptoms are all so random! I thought it was just hot flushes and then periods stopped!

I'm 46...

In the last few months, I've noticed:-

Waking in the night.
Heart rhythms.
Odd chest pains.
Forgetting more.
Shorter and lighter periods.
Sore breasts mid-period.

Fun times. :)

'can I ask if you’re peri symptoms are all so random! I thought it was just hot flushes and then periods stopped!'

That's what I thought too but NOPE! Apparently we have oestrogen receptors in every cell of our bodies so just about any part of your functioning can be affected

Heart palpitations can definitely be a symptom. There are about 40 recognised symptoms of perimenopause now. You might find it useful to start tracking your symptoms using the Balance app or similar. GP should be discussing your symptoms with you and not relying on periods, age or hormonal blood test results
