ttriflenorks · 14/05/2008 22:57

Oh sweetie, I feel as if I have lied to you. I suppose though, every ones experience is different. I am so proud of Mr UC for eating his dinner of mush! I hope you, Mr UC and the babblers are holding up. Best of luck and best of wishes to you all.
Triplets, best wishes to you and Mr T too, did Mr T go to William Harvey?

UniversallyChallenged · 15/05/2008 17:30

ttrifle - you didnt lie everything you said was exactly right!

Well a drain has come out today and we had a wander around the hospital - I wore him out with a 10 min walk!

So, no flick flacks for Mr UC then?
He sounds as if he is doing so well how are your kids holding up?
Best wishes. T

UniversallyChallenged · 15/05/2008 22:25

Kids are so resiliant, you must be so proud of them. It takes a lot as an adult to face the unknown, but for a child its everything.

triplets · 15/05/2008 22:41

Yes trifle, WH, are you near there?

ttriflenorks · 15/05/2008 23:58

I live very, very near you in an old coal mining village. I just wondered if he went to QEQM

ttriflenorks · 15/05/2008 23:59

or wh

triplets · 16/05/2008 22:08

Hi,
Ooooooooo a mining village, know them all, my Dad used to work at Betteshanger! He has to see the consultant at Canterbury this Monday, then Thurs he has an appt at W Harvey to see the oncologist to discuss the chemo. It is all getting so scary, I am trying to find positive things to focus on, but at times it overwhelms me, esp with the children being so young. He has not had a very good day, well since yesterday, very tired, and off his food, hope he is brighter tomorrow.

UniversallyChallenged · 16/05/2008 22:40

Hope it goes well for you and dh this week triplets. So worrying when they not their usual selves isnt it? Must be such a roller coaster still for you as it's only been since March you say? How are your beautiful -I sneaked a peak at your photos!- children taking all the changes with his health?

triplets · 16/05/2008 22:57

Hi UC, they are doing ok, I think, still being naughty at any rate! Rebecca is a real Dads girl, watches him like a hawk, fusses over him, yet she is strong. Tom Tom wants to know all the medical facts, says everything is ok, James bottles it all up. But kids being kids they forget, today he has been touchy and needed some peace, so I let them go on the computer and lap top, but as there are two machines and three of them that caused a commotion! How are you doing?

ttriflenorks · 16/05/2008 23:29

Dh dad worked at Betteshanger whilst mine and dh grandads worked at Snowdown.
I am sorry to hear that Mr T is not feeling so hot today, but I hope he feels better tomorrow, its hard on the kids huh.
UC, how is Mr UC today? feeling any better?
How are your kids holding up .. and You?

triplets · 16/05/2008 23:37

Golly trifle..........do we know each other? My lovely Dad spent his whole life down that pit, wouldnt have had it any other way, I miss him. The kids seem ok, playing up as usual, they obviously dont realize how serious this is, they know its cancer, but to them its an illness you will get treatment for and get better. I jut feel so angry, really angry that my life is changing again, again in such a horrible way. I was so dreading this year anyway, on the 2nd June Matthew will have been gone for 14 yrs, the same length of time as he was here, a big hurdle, and now this, its sooooo hard trying to keep putting a brave face on.

UniversallyChallenged · 17/05/2008 12:53

oh poo just did a big long post and the comp froze! So annoying

Just to say triplets you sound an incredible woman. Where does our inner strength come from sometimes? I didnt click that the thread on your lovely son Matthew was actually YOU until i looked at your photos yesterday. Really thinking you and your dh.

Trifle am doing fine thanks dh home tomorrow! Am mixed between "thank goodness - cant wait" and "this is now reality - we are in for the long haul now" worrying if we can all cope. Am sure we will though.

UniversallyChallenged · 17/05/2008 12:56

oh and the dcs are their usual selves - but "more so" sometimes. Heightened emotions i suppose. Sometimes they seem totally unaware how ill dh is and other times they seem too aware. We will all find our feet soon.
Thanks for asking tho ttriflexx

I bet you are so pleased that Mr UC is coming home tomorrow, lots of TLC, sleep, you and the kids should see him feel like a new man in a week. Good luck T

triplets · 17/05/2008 22:36

So pleased he is coming home, it is so much easier for everyone, although I am sure our trio drive him mad at times! He got so little rest in the hopsital so esp when the kids are at school he has the opportunity to nap. Also as he is still struggling to eat much, its nice to be able to offer him anyhting he might suddenly feel like, he is drinking lots of Lucozade sprts drinks, came highly recommended by someone else who has been on the same journey. He feels very cold all the time, has just gone to bed now and wants another extra blanket on, whilst I boil! Its very hard, we can only do our best, trying to keep everything as normal as poss for the children. xx

triplets · 18/05/2008 23:05

Hi UC,
Just me popping in late to see how your DH is, did he come home? Hope he did and you are all ok. Mine is not so good today, we have our big appt in the morning, to discuss the surgery results.

mobileslostisitinthefreeze · 19/05/2008 09:05

Hi, Trifle here, my two are of school today. we went for a hay ride yesterday at chislet and ds feels sick (he did eat a lot mind) whilst dd has a migraine, the timing of which is a bit suspect (pe and a french test ) but I have been keeping a calander and actually its 28 days since the last one (iswim) so maybe thats what it is.
Well I hope Mr UC is settling back at home well, and he is feeling a bit better than yesterday. I bet the kids are loving having their daddy back home. Good luck and best wishes to you all.
Mr T, I hope all goes well at the WH today. It must be scary.

UniversallyChallenged · 19/05/2008 10:40

Thanks triplets and mobile

Yes he's back home safe and sound! Feeling fine, though funny feelings as the swellings subside and all the bits in the neck move into their proper places.

Thinking of you triplets, please let us know how it goes xxx

Universallychallenged, so glad you are bearing up and that your LO's are being so brave. Do you mind me asking what your DH's symptoms were ?

paperchain · 19/05/2008 17:10

Just seem this thread. My DS2 had tumours removed from his neck - lymph nodes, brachial cysts, thyroglossal cysts when he was 18 months. All were benign. But we have to monitor him carefully as told they coudl regrow. They removed part of the bone in his neck and back of the tonbgue (hyoid?) to help prevent this.

Sorry for going 'off topic' a bit, but couldnt help but think of the similarities - and of course, how things will pan out for DS2

Lots of love to those going through difficulties.

PCx

andiem · 19/05/2008 17:13
