my husband was hospitalised with influenza over xmas awful time also found 2 ulcers waiting for biopsy results and the stress is horrendous but the oral thrush diagnosed and left to deal with on discharge last week has stopped him eating and weak - swallowing liquid is barely tolerable been 5 days now
Taking nystan 3 x day our gp said treble dose so have since Friday and gel Clare gargles/tried coconut oil and cranberry juice today but watching him for a week sleeping most of the day and not being able to eat is horrendous
anyone experienced this if so what about nutrition he was thin to start with and I have to cajole him to drink iced water or eat probiotic yoghurt. help please this is so stressful watching him suffer docs say 2 weeks of it I'm scared

Try plain live yoghurt as a mouth wash. It will start to restore some of the bacteria wiped out by meds. The good bacteria will start to inhibit the candida. It’s an old fashioned method and a type of probiotic.

Whenever I get mouth issues... anything from a random mouth ulcer to full on thrush including black hairy tongue... I do a coconut oil pull every morning (on an empty tum) and it does actually help.

Nystan is ok, but isn't always effective, so when that's been the case, my GP has prescribed an alternative antibiotic.

Hope all improves soon, it's a nightmare to have so much worry.

OP the coconut oil quickly melts in the warmth of the mouth. I don't think you can buy a liquid version, it naturally solidifies at room temperature. But you don't need to anyway - as soon as you put a teaspoonful on/under the tongue, it begins to melt.

I was given tablets to take as well as the drops. And even then needed a second course of treatment.
I sympathise - I couldn't believe how painful it was. Trying to eat and drink was miserable.
