Chronic anaemia

My life has been blighted by low level anaemia. I've spent years puffing up stairs and not being able to do things like go on long walks.
At the GP it's an endless routine of blood tests and being told to take supplements.
I don't seem to be able to absorb them.
I've hit rock bottom now. So a friend of mine suggested I go to the Iron Clinic at my local hospital. It's private.
I didn't know such a thing existed. It's £700 for a treatment and a proper IV iron infusion and people say it's changed their lives.
Has anyone done this? I've booked myself in.

I did! It was worth every penny.

Plus the consultant wrote to my GP saying my ferritin should be kept at 90 or above so when my ferritin dropped back into the 50's I got another transfusion on the NHS.

That's fantastic. I thought Id have to pay forever. I hope my consultant does that. I'd never even heard of these clinics until last week. Especially in Somerset. Thanks for replying.

It takes a couple of weeks for your body to properly distribute all the iron but you should notice improvements straight away. 🙂

Good luck!

Who did you go with? I’m in Leeds and want to find somewhere local and reputable.
