Haywire hormones at 40!

Hello all!
I'm approaching 41 in a couple of months but it seems that since turning 40, my hormones have gone a bit insane.
Ovulation in particular! Symptoms like ovulation spotting with cramps (plus loads of clear CM on the build up!) hormonal headaches, sleep issues, dry hair and skin, anxiety, worsening PMS...the list goes on.
Am I insane or could it be perimenopause?!
I'd love to hear how things changed for you turning 40!

40 and a half years young here and experiencing similar issues. My periods are now irregular 6-8 weeks apart or I get two in the same month. The only way I know I'm due on is a two day constant hormonal headache which is like the start of a migraine with nausea and watery eyes. It's awful, I'd rather have ovulation pain and the cramping back.
I'm experiencing hot flushes/cold flashes, insomnia, nocturnal panic attacks when I do manage to fall asleep, random itchiness and dry skin. I also seem to be less tolerant in general...

Thank you for your reply @gemdrop84! Honestly feel like I'm going mad sometimes. And the eye thing! They really itch and water around period and ovulation time. My periods are shorter (4 days instead of 6) but so painful with clots (sorry if tmi!).
Have you seen a GP or anything?
