For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

franny

of course you can't go you loon - make all kinds of fun promises about other things but really you cannot consider going.

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2008 08:30

well I said right from the start we couldn't go
but ds keeps on bringing it up again and again, and tbh we are all feeling sad about it and down that we are missing it
if I wasn't mean I could let dp and ds go by themselves but I caaaaaa-aaa-aaan't
and I don't think anything else will make up for the wonder of it in ds's mind
"but mummy I slept in a tent...and in the morning we had tea on the fire.....and went to the circus tent and were circus people...and then at night time we went in the fairy woods and I had ice cream every day and stayed up late and saw the stars and had a pie, every dayyyyy Mummmmmyyyyyyy"

Have a look at the above profiles and find me - I am CBC with a pic of me and bespectacled DD pulling faces

I ask due to incurable nosiness. I lurve looking at new friends' profiles esp if there are photos

I may even dust off my scrabulous skills, such as they are

TigerFeet · 05/05/2008 09:54

FrayedKnot · 05/05/2008 10:10

Morning Veggers

What a lovely day

So sorry about DH Lully. Poor old DS. Can you go and do something anyway

And sorry about festival missing out Franny. Can you have a mini festival in the garden? Sleep overnight in tent?

Or will SPD not allow it?

I have been up doing housework since 8.30

Now thinking about a bike ride and picnic.

Hope everyone has a good day.

TigerFeet · 05/05/2008 10:17

I like the mini festival idea! You could do it over a long weekend, ds could sleep in a tent and be allowed a pie and an icecream every day. Is there a circus school near you or something similar during the summer hols he could go to as part of it?

lullabyloo · 05/05/2008 10:21

Sorry about outburst
But dh is never ever here these days, never home for bedtime, works Saturdays or goes to betting shop & can only spare an hour or two on a Sunday (maybe) for us.

Yesterday persuaded him to take us to the bluebell woods, but we didn't leave until really late..he moaned that he was tired, wouldn't take his camera & grumbled so much that ds became really angry & badly behaved. He plodded around the wood moaning & snapping & what should have been a really magical afternoon ended up being miserable.

Anyhow,ds & I went tto the local carboot this morning & have come back with whole set of lauren child books, magnetic tell the time set, white company bunting, bag of dinosaurs, lovely watercolur, flik klak watch & brio for £6.

I am packing a picnic & taking ds to the park & boating.

Franny,that sounds delightful..magical
Ds would love it too
I have never been to a festival ,dh wont camp & I dont drive
But I would love to

Fullmoonfiend · 05/05/2008 10:22

swoon at bunting!!

lullabyloo · 05/05/2008 10:23

yes two bags for £1
Bargain!

TooTicky · 05/05/2008 11:36

Bee - I looked at the chocolate cherries. I want some but cow-free.

Lully - glad you're salvaging the day. You are a star.

Franny - oh dear, poor ds, but you really can't go. A festival in the garden would be fun. Do you have any friends who juggle fire?

TooTicky · 05/05/2008 11:38

Oh dear Stuffit, sorry about your bottom.
I have pooed btw
(bet you were all dying to know )

TooTicky · 05/05/2008 11:46

Fmf - the Levellers are on Facebook

TigerFeet, I will be your friend

cyteen · 05/05/2008 12:33

Veg update:

Yesterday I had massive Greek salad for lunch (mixed leaves, cucumber, red pepper, carrot, red onion, olives, avocado, feta ), and then butternut squash and chickpea stew for tea followed by fruit salad (banana, blueberries, strawberries, grapes). So I think I have achieved one ten, although failed miserably at the other.

Today am eating the rest of the Greek salad, with added chickpeas that were left over from last night's stew, and will be having roast with three veg and apple crumble later on. My excuse is that I need to stuff my face before 9.30 as I'm having a glucose tolerance test tomorrow and am banned from eating/drinking for 12 hours beforehand It's just cruel to strip a pregnant woman of one of the few pleasures she's allowed.

lully, hope you're out having a good time with ds

stuffitall · 05/05/2008 13:26

excellent Toot
good to know

have made vat of delicious asparagus soup and eaten- half-- of it

i agree asparagus nicer steamed, but when chopping this stuff it was so woody soup, was the only option, and i lost the adaptor for british blender so had to use my handwhisk, so the woody bits are still there and at least will be good for my bottom

plus soup all over the kitchen
but I forgot to put the tops in so am having them steamed separately later

lovely time in the kitchen, made lamb and thyme stew (sorry true veggers) and have many many many veg to go with it, am hopeful will make 10 today

cyteen you must be starving -- good luck with the test

stuffitall · 05/05/2008 13:27

plainly have lost ability to type, punctuate, do clever things with the keyboard
i want an icon with a dunce's hat
lully well done at the car boot, i'm doing one soon .. have promised the children they can keep the money for the toys to tempt them to offload more stuff

cyteen · 05/05/2008 13:32

Cheers stuffit, it's because my dad's type 2 diabetic so I guess they have to test me just in case. A bit annoying really as his diabetes is entirely self-inflicted (too much high living), but they don't take that into account. I, of course, am a paragon of virtue and healthy living
