Hi everyone. I'm having surgery tomorrow to have half my Thyroid removed along with a 5cm goitre compressing my windpipe.
I'm just looking for some honest experiences from people of recovery after the surgery, especially with pain, mobility and eating.
Did anyone have trouble eating? Did you have to stick to soft foods?
Were you able to move around without too much trouble?
My partner is off work for a week luckily and i do have 5 children, youngest being 6 months old.
I'm so worried 🥺
Thank you

I had one side vocal cord paralysis for a few months that gradually loosened up. They said it had been knicked. I also had a clot in my neck (jugular) after the second surgery which resulted in me looking like Thanos and spending a while in hospital. I also have scarring from GERD. I think a combination of those things has affected my voice. Lack of volume, much lower, sound gruff a lot of the time. It's also the pressure I have. Like someone is slightly leaning on my throat. Which is a bit unnerving.

In the grand scheme of things it's not major but it has affected my confidence. Don't be afraid to push if you don't feel happy!

I had my follow up yesterday and was told I have right sided vocal paralysis. I'm gutted. Really hope it rectifies itself but you can't help but fear the worst
