Traveller’s diarrhoea

Went to Sri Lanka over Christmas and New Year and must have eaten something amiss. I think we worked out it was a club sandwich and chips at a Botanical Garden cafe!
Not had any vomiting but have had TMI liquid diarrhoea ever since. Took Imodium twice, that stops me going altogether for a day but once it wears off I’m back to multiple liquid poos.
It’s now a week and a half since it started. Shouldn’t it be settling by now? Do I need to go to the GP? (now back in snowy England). Or how long do I give it?

Eat a bland diet, eat a banana each day, keep your liquids up and message your gp for advice. Typically it corrects its self after a few days and rarely is there anything medical professionals can actually do apart from give the advice above. So often it's the "western" food that is the culprit

Did an e consult and must have been prioritised as was seen this morning. A stool sample has gone off for analysis.

I'm glad you've got a stool sample away being analysed, Could be salmonella or campylobacter. Viral stuff tends to be self limiting and only lasts a few days. As suggested above, keep your fluids up, diaorolyte or weak squash with a pinch of salt. Dry toast and banana if you can. Hope you feel better soon!
