Walking pneumonia

Has anyone ever had this?

I started with a cold just after Christmas and my asthma which is usually very well controlled with a preventative inhaler has been playing up. Coughing like mad all night and It feels like there's irritation deep in my lungs (too deep to cough up) and I've got pain in my back on one side that I assumed was muscular but maybe not. No temp. I'm fed up of it and was googling - walking pneumonia came up. Just wondered if anyone had it and what symptoms? And can it clear up without intervention?

Does it feel like there’s a bit of fluid or a rattle in your lungs? There are a few really nasty respiratory bugs going round at the moment!

Yes u basically couldn't stop coughing and didn't realise that was a sign that my breathing was bad (I don't have asthma)
Took myself off to the out of hours and was wondering who was unwell when they came rushing out with a nebuliser
That would be me Blush

I had 6 nebulisers I think that weekend, 2 courses of steroids and 2 courses of antibiotics but I'm immunocompromised

Just found my letter
It says rattle cough, difficulty breathing and refractory wheeze with no history of respiratory problems
Failure to improve after 5 days of steroids and antibiotics, further courses of both given
Nebulised 1/2/3 and 7th
Blood tests showed severe neutropenia, had she presented to a&e she should have been admitted
Severe chest infection/pneumonia
