Feeling ill a week after serious bruising

A week ago I was thrown from a horse, so extensive bruising on leg, lower back & ribs.
I have needed a siesta every day since, as the aches and pains have taken a lot of energy.
Today's my first day back at work and I feel tired and just...off colour, I you'll pardon the pun.
I booked an osteopath appointment for this evening, but I'm wondering if that's too soon after the fall.
Any advice?

Poor you. It is such a shock to the system to have a fall particularly from the height of a horse. Just doing everyday tasks when you're in pain is exhausting and going back to work after Xmas is another layer of misery until you get back into the swing of things. It isn't surprising you feel rubbish.

Personally, I'd go to the osteo. The thing is that because of the pain, you'll be holding yourself awkwardly and that can put a lot of extra strain on your back muscles and joints. The last thing you want is have a bad back after the bruises heal. Even if they don't do much today - obviously they won't want to hurt you - they can probably provide some advice. (I am an osteopathy fan though so may be biased.)

Other than that, all you can do is get some rest, keep up the ice packs and have lots and lots of treats to cheer yourself up. I'd also avoid poorly people (I know it is almost impossible as everyone seems to have some sort of a virus at the moment). If you are feeling under the weather you may be more susceptible. I hope you are back in the saddle soon.

I think I'd personally speak to the GP or even head to urgent care for a full check up. My trainer had a nasty fall while jumping, thought she was just bruised and found out a week later she'd bruised her spleen. I can't remember exactly what treatment she had but the docs took it very seriously and she wasn't allowed to ride for a good few weeks.

Osteopath barely touched me.
Lots of turn this way, roll that way, look over here, bend like this. Does it hurt here? Yes? OK. What about here.
Then advised siestas and paracetamol and see how you feel in another week.
Amazing how thorough they can be without hurting you. Then a long discussion with his skeleton.
