A friend is taking laxatives every other day, she says its to help her lose weight I am sure this probably does'nt work, and not healthy long term, am I right? Anyone know the damage she could do to herself so I can tell her? Thanks {smile}

You're right, it doesn't work at all. your body just gets more efficient at removing calories from food, so it becomes a downward spiral where you need more and more...
Also, it buggers up your body chemistry causing all manner of probs and can lead to long term gut motility problems - IBS and worse!

Yes. In the short term - low sodium ; low potassium levels ; dehydration and doesn't make you lose fat weight.

In longer term give you atonic bowel - your bowel gets lazy.

V bad idea and doesn't work unless you count that the time spent on the toilet is time not spent eating.
