metronidazole experiences ?

I am a week into a two week course of metronidazole along with another type of antibiotic and I feel so depressed, tired and a bit poorly on it, has anyone else had a bad experience with it?

Can't wait to stop taking it !

I had this on IV in hospital for 5 days and experienced tiredness and headaches, which I put down to being in hospital, loud and minimal sleep but it could have been side effect. Hope you feel better soon op.

No alcohol whatsoever. That includes mouthwash OP. Also have a decent probiotic as it can kill all the healthy gut bacteria.

I always struggle with antibiotics, take actimel yogurt drink at same time, replaces good gut bacteria that are killed off. Works for me

My husband has recently taken it and felt rubbish! He had it for a parasite that he picked up in Morocco.

I’ve never had a problem with this one.

I took oral metronidazole for a fortnight for infectious colitis. It made me feel dreadful and constantly tired and really nauseated - I lost around 4kg because I couldn't face eating. Also made my pee brown,

In my teens I made the mistake of drinking alcohol while taking metronidazole. Massive error - I was beyond ill. Other than that, I didn't experience any awful side effects that I remember.

I had this for a dental infection and it knocked me sideways. I've asked not to have it again - horrible metallic taste in my mouth, no appetite and felt wiped/low.

I was on a 5 day course during the last week for a wisdom tooth infection. I didn't find it too bad, felt mildly nauseous at times and had some stomach pain but nothing too serious.
They do warn you to stay off alcohol during the treatment, one of the things that you also shouldn't have is e-liquid containing propylene glycol and I vape. I tried to reduce how often I vaped but couldn't stop altogether. I didn't notice any major problems but maybe I was just lucky

Gives me diarrhoea and makes me feel awful. Always ask for something else now.

Gave me a horrible taste in my mouth - almost like dog poo - yuck! Also made my tongue and urine go brown. I had it for a week for h pylori along with clarithromycin.

It made me teary, upset and nauseous. Really horrible drug.

I've had it a couple of times and not really noticed any side effects.
But another time I had a major hangover and took my dose, Jesus Christ !! Never again. I could understand why apparently alcoholics were given it 🤢🤢

Awful! Gave me heart palpitations that never went away and I'm not on life long medication for them. I'm recorded as "allergic" to it on my medical notes now.

I stopped taking these last week and since yesterday have had bad stomach pains when I eat, I just wondered if anyone else had any side effects afterwards? X

I was prescribed this today. Looked up the side effects and it said causes seizures. I refuse to start taking then and judging by the connents on here i , w dont ever want to be given them again. I was given them because of a tooth infection and the amoxicillin arent really helping. Thank goodness i didnt starttaking this awful sounding d antibiotic. Should be taken off the market.

@Patienceinshortsupplyi know this was posted last year but I’m in the same boat right now and stopped 3 days ago and still no appetite and still have the Metalic taste in the mouth 🤮
