What the hell is wrong with me?

I’ll obviously seek some medical advice when I can get to the gp and prob some blood tests are required but has anyone ever experienced anything like this.

for background, I am a healthy weight (53kg), non smoking, reasonable diet, busy job, regular runner and gym goer, 37 year old woman. No health problems except previous anxiety and depression which no longer troubles me. I drink a bit and on two occasions over Xmas and new year I’ve had enough to be tipsy but certainly not usually a drinker.

during work weeks I get up at 5:30 and go to bed by 9:30 with little trouble. I’ve been off work for the two week Xmas period and I am so incredibly tired. Last night I went to bed at 7pm hoping to run at 6am this morning. I have just not been able to get up and to be honest I could happily go to sleep again. My limbs ache with tiredness and I can’t stop yawning. It’s been like this a week.

my assumption is that this is an iron deficiency. To avoid drip feeding I’m on the contraception implant and it has played havoc with my periods- I recently bled for 36 days straight. I am booked to have this removed asap and I have taken tranexamic acid which has stopped the bleeding two days ago. I have started vitamins and iron but not seen any difference yet.

I honestly have only felt this tired once before, well twice: when I was in early pregnancy. I will do a test today just in case but seems unlikely at my age and on the implant.

before I ask the gp for a blood test are there any suggestions of deficiencies I may have or vitamins etc I should try? I’m not sure I can manage going to work tomorrow!

I’d be asking for your iron, B12 and thyroid to be checked.
And I’d take vitamin B complex for energy. You could add in some magnesium too, maybe glycinate before bed, as you may not be sleeping well even though you are in bed .
You are heading towards peri menopause, and it was in my early 40’s I suddenly felt creaky so started omega 3. When you do get to peri, start D3 with K2 for your bones.
