Does anybody understand NHS referrals?

I had a biopsy on the 14 December and awaiting results.

Just logged onto my NHS Apps and it says a referral has been made to gynae but was made on the 14th December, the day of the initial appointment ? I've not had a letter about anything or results?

Does anybody know what this could mean? If it was urgent surely they would have got in contact?

I would say this is a standard referral to give
You the results of the biopsy and discuss next steps. It is not based on the results of the biopsy if the referral was done on the same date.

I had a biopsy done in November and prior to this the nurse was speaking to gynae for advice; my app said referred to gynae. I would look at it as they are the experts and you are referred to them for any reason to do with gynaecology- from advice to biopsies. Hope all goes well
