Children's teeth

Can anyone advise me about children's teeth. Since about 18 mths Niamh has had 20 teeth BUT all of a sudden she's started to dribble again-which she does have a slight snuffle, BUT she's never dribbled when she's had a cold before. The ONLY time that she's dribbled is when she's been teething, SO what I'm wanting to know is this-is she due any more teeth?
Thanks in advance.

She could have the hand foot and mouth infection. That causes excess dribbling due to mouth ulcers. Does she have any ulcers in her mouth?

Does she really have all 20 teeth? Usually the very back molars which are the last 4, dont come in until they are about 2.5..could she be getting those?

If you think it IS them, then stock on on teething supplies as they are the biggest teeth and hardest to cut..

Seona1973 · 02/05/2008 12:46

they normally get 4 molars at around 2years old - 18 months would be a bit early to have the full set of baby teeth. Maybe have a check and see just how many teeth she has just now. Teething chart

I hope 18 months is too early..my DD is 18mos and just got her other 16, we were hoping for a break from teething for a good while

Hiya everyone, NO she DEFINITELY has 20 teeth since she was about 18 months-started at 3 months & they all came at LEAST 1, if not 2 pr mth right through to 18 months old!! Seona1973-looking at the chart that you provided the link for she has ALL but the number 6's-and when I was looking last night it looked like there was quarter of a tooth through back top left-so I think she is starting again!! But looking at that chart then she shouldn't get these until she's about 6 yrs old!! BUT having said that according to that chart she shouldn't have got her 4 front teeth until she was at least 6 months old-she got her 1st one at 3-4 mths!! Oh well, if these go like the other ones did, then all we'll end up with at the worst, is a wet smelly neck!! LOL-but she's not as chubby as she was then! Also she had never any pain with them either-we've been soooo lucky!! BELGO- no, no ulcers-only time she's had these is when she got oral thrush-bless her!!

They only get 20 teeth in total though!

HereComeTheGirls · 02/05/2008 14:42

OK, sorry, I was confused...she does sound like a really early teether!!!

ClareVoiant · 02/05/2008 14:43

afaik each child is different.

ds has only 16 teeth and is 2.7,his friend (ame age) has all 20 and has had since about 18months also.

his friend's first teeth started at 2 months, whereas ds had only 4 teeth when he was 1.

so maybe its possible that madmooses dd is getting the last molars.

ZoeC · 02/05/2008 14:46

How old is she now madm00se?

dd1 had all 20 well before 2 years so I quite believe you, at some time since then she has got her first adult molars too so she now has 24 teeth, she is 5 now though. I have not the faintest idea when they came through though, just that they are there now. She will be due to start losing milk teeth soonish though, and the first adult molars can come before that.

madm00se · 04/05/2008 11:04

ZoeC-she's now 2.8 yrs old, I realise that every child's different-but I didn't expect anymore to come through until the ones she currently has started to fall out!! To everyone else, thanks for all the disbelief!!

"To everyone else, thanks for all the disbelief!! "

err isn't that slightly bitter considering we were trying to HELP you?

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 11:07

and anyway I said "oops, yes sorry, she does sound like a really early teether" once you had explained.

AitchTwoCiao · 04/05/2008 11:10

lol, madmoose, how madly ungracious of you. if you wanted everyone to say 'yes, you are right, she's getting her 6-year-old's teeth' then you really should have said so. honestly, why do people bother to post on here if they just want everyone to agree with them? ROFL.
