Dental bridge hell.. any advice?

Had a bridge fitted 10 days ago. fixed to canine and a back molar (two missing teeth) The back part feels fine. The canine hurts... it's a fraction too long I think, but the whole tooth underneath hurts, my face hurts above the tooth.
No appointments til Jan 6th :(
I'm taking every painkiller I can get my hands on.

I suspect it'ts either not fitted quite right or there is somehow an infection ( the temporary crown was fine so I know how it should feel!)

Can they remove it if necessary.. it's cemented in! Feeling very miserable at the mo!

It is possible that the canine is dying as a result of treatment, it does happen. Alternatively if the bridge feels “high” the tooth is feeling bruised and you may be clenching in response to the interference.
It may just settle, if you can take ibuprofen that may help. Ultimately the bite needs adjusting until it’s comfortable.
If the tooth has died you will need root canal which can be done without removing the bridge.
There is a possibility that excess cement has lodged in the gum around the tooth so use some floss or interdental brushes gently to see if you can remove it.

Whatever it is it can be sorted.
Does your dentist have emergency cover over Christmas? They should have some sort of cover specifically for pain, bleeding and swelling. If it is not settling try to contact them. If one of my patients had just had a bridge fitted I would much prefer them to contact me than wait until after new year because it may be a quick fix or at least you can address the pain. Patients who have been in pain for two weeks are not happy patients. Usually there is a long message on the answer phone that will give you the info you need, but you need to listen to it in full. We have loads of people who put the phone down after “We are closed….”

Thank you so much for your reply! I really hope I don't need a root canal (I'm very scared of the dentist as I lost the missing teeth due to a dentist not recognising trigeminal neuralgia many years ago and have had the gaps ever since so having problems (it's not TN) is very depressing and scary for me.

My dentist is away tl 6th Jan but I presume there must be someone in the practise before then if I get desperate. I really hope it's just bruised and needs filing down. .. can they adjust the teeth at all? The canine is definitely a fraction too long and the next tooth to that on the bridge is also bulky and my own bottom tooth is hitting it so my bite doesn't fit quite right. It generally feels very bulky (unlike the temporary crown which was fine) and aches more and more as the day goes on.

Not doing much for my Xmas cheer!
