Weird tender stomach

Last two days I’ve had an odd, quite painful tenderness in my stomach area underneath my ribs. Like something under the skin is bruised or strained. I’ve been trying to ignore it, but it’s not getting any better. Dr Google (I know) gives me no answers as the results seem to be for lower abdominal pain. I do have endometriosis and fibroids but this is totally different. No inciting incident that I can recall which could’ve resulted in a pulled muscle etc. it’s not noticeable until I move, so not hurting all the time.

Bit annoyed as I have a lot to do today to prep for tomorrow but do feel like I’m hampered by it hurting when I try to do certain things (like cleaning)

any ideas on what might’ve caused it? Do I need to be more worried?

I've had similar which turned out to be a hiatus hernia. Mine became apparent after regularly wearing a denim skirt and high waisted jeans, the unforgiving waistband dug under my ribs right into it. I didn't have any reflux symptoms that normally go with it, but they can be silent any way.

I would still get it checked out though xxx

Oh, I’ve been getting reflux for a while now…

Thanks, I’ll make a GP appointment (wish me luck)

Meanwhile i think you can get Omeprazole over the counter which might help you and i take a dose of gaviscon before bed which seems to help too. Good luck xx

Does it hurt when you breathe? As if something is poking you in the ribs. If so it could be costochondritis. Very painful but not harmful. Only thing to do for it is strong painkillers.
But either way see the GP. Take plenty of paracetamol and ibuprofen and try not to exert yourself too much. I wish you well.
Currently got a terrible cold so I feel your pain x

Thank you, no it doesn’t hurt at all when breathing, I can’t even feel it when I’m sat still, it’s just when I move it feels bruised and as if something is “pulling” in my stomach area. It’s an odd type of pain, nothing like the sharper pains I’ve had through other issues. Luckily I don’t feel unwell so will power on through and see the GP in the new year!

@saltandvinegarchipsticks I hope it gets better of it's own accord. If not hopefully the GP can sort you out x

Hi did you find out what this is? I'm currently experiencing the exact same thing. I've been put on PPIs but so far it's not done anything. I can't find any information on this, as you say it'll all information on lower stomach. I also have more burping and hiccups.
