Hi everyone, my son was sick in the night, we have family coming round Christmas Eve and lots of gatherings Xmas day/Boxing Day. He was absolutely fine afterwards. Would you cancel plans?

How do you know it was the same D&V bug?

We got it from the same person. We were all staying at their house.

You can't know for sure that the family who had worse symptoms were already harbouring a different bug.

I'd be totally fuming and really upset if you let me come over and then my kids got sick over Christmas.

Please, at least let people know so they can make their own minds up.

This. Its really selfish to not warn people

Are you always such a know it all?

No, I am a scientist though.
If all the various bugs which result in D&V were easily traced they would be much easier to contain.

Not sure a one-off being sick is a virus, far more likely to be excitement or just something he ate.

My son used to be sick all the time as a small child, if we'd followed the 48 hour rule every time he'd never have been in nursery. Funnily enough we could tell the difference when he was ill and I have no doubt the OP can too.

I did warn everyone today, they were happy to still come round but I cancelled to be on the safe side. He’s been his normal hyper self, not showing any signs of illness so we’re are going to family tomorrow (they have been warned and are ok with us going round)
