Flu type illness and no appetite

Have been sick since last Tuesday with a bout of what feels like flu (sore throat, dry cough, temperature, sweats at night, headache). Covid test negative. The cough is loosening and the chills have gone but I have zero appetite or desire for any food. At this rate I'll eat nothing on Christmas Day but some ice cream. I haven't had the flu for years since I was pregnant with my youngest and had morning sickness as well. I don't know if this lack of interest in food is typical of the illness or just this strain. Anyone else?

Got it here. I've just forced some toast down because I had awful reflux. Nephew is the same and has refused pretty much everything apart from a bowl of sweetened porridge.

Thank you, yes it does feel like 'forcing' oneself to eat atm. This may be the Christmas that ends with being five pounds lighter instead of heavier...

It's grim isn't it? I've been looking forward to Christmas dinner for ages and now the thought of it makes me 🤢🤢🤢

DH & I are on day 8 with it, still some night sweats but the taste and smell has still gone. Forcing myself to eat to help get better, can only distinguish between soemtbign salty or spicy. The annual curry for Xmas will be wasted this year. DC who is 3 is on day 5 and I don’t think they can taste too as it’s a battle to get anything down that’s substantial. Wasn’t the run up to Christmas I had hoped and unlikely to see wider family on the day due to being immunocompromised but I wouldn’t wish the illness on anyone.

So sorry to hear that so many are suffering - I had it too. Lasted 7 days (despite having had flu jab) and I definitely had zero interest in food (and I’m a ‘live to eat’ type!). Feel almost 100% in myself now but still got the horrible cough (several negative Covid tests). Eating again, but without much enthusiasm.
