Crusty lump on leg

This has appeared on my leg. It's now about the size of of a 5p and seems to be getting a bit crusty. Anyone have any ideas of what it might be and whether I need to get it checked out.

Definitely get it checked out. My colleague has skin cancer which appears as crusty patches (I haven’t seen hers so can’t compare). Hopefully not in your case but your GP will be very willing to check for you. You’re not wasting their time.

Yes, please get this checked out. Mine turned out to be a Basal Cell Carcinoma. Skin cancer isn't always a mole. On the positive side, they take a very long time to spread (years) and you will be absolutely fine. But please see the doctor.

Looks very much like my Seborrhoeic Keratosis. they are very common on lower legs
However you need to get it checked out asap, your GP should refer you to a specialist to rule out skin cancer

It looks a lot like my dermatofibroma

Have a look at Bowens Disease, I had one of those just above my knee and a dermatologist froze it with liquid nitrogen to get rid,

Thank you very much for your replies. I saw the doctor and, whilst he doesn't think it's anything too sinister, he has referred me to have it removed.
