Merina Coil - bleeding

sorry this is TMI, is it normal to have 15day + heavy periods following the marina coil insertion? I had fibroids removed via hysteroscopy and a Marina fitted at the same time. I bled following the op for around 10 days which was expected, I then came on my period, which was much heavier and lots of clots (sorry tmi), bled for 15 days and now on day 12 of another heavy period. My average pre-merina cycle was 24 days, which still seems to be the case now, and I get all the usual pms symptoms before hand, so there is maybe 2 or 3 days of my cycle when I’m feeling fine and not bleeding - is this normal?!

I bled for 3 months after having the mirena fitted. Then eventually periods settled back in to a normal cycle, but were still heavy and painful and eventually the coil fell out! I have fibroids too.

It’s tiring, isn’t it? I haven’t heard many good stories about the coil 😕

Once it settles it is fabulous, but my first I bled randomly on and off for the first 4-6 months, replacements haven't though.

I had the same thing except I had to supposedly solve the heavy bleeding caused by fibroids and I hadn't had mine treated at the time. I was similar to you, much worse bleeding, longer periods, big clots, cramps like I'd never had in my life, and spotting most days. After a year of being told it would settle it thankfully bled itself out in a particularly spectacular episode that involved a trip to A&E!

I posted on here about the mirena coil . I’ve had it nearly 2 years now. First year was horrendous , non stop bleeding and pro longed bleeding.
last 10 months my periods have stopped , feels like a blessing after the months of issues.

Talk to your GP they can give you medication to stop the bleeding. Once it’s in seems they don’t like taking them back out for bleeding issues and just get told it was settle , not going to lie I was booked in for removal when mine started settling x
