Cervical ectropion

I finally got the courage to go for my smear test today I am 2 years overdue..the last one I had was really painful and gave me a fear of it but I had noticed recently that around the time of my period if I had sex I would bleed a little. Never another time only around the time of my period. It had been worrying me so I got the courage and had ny smear test.
After the smear test I bled which she said was normal but she also said to me I had a cervical ectropion and that maybe why I was bleeding occasionally after sex. She asked me if I had been on the pill which I had but 6 years ago was the last time I was on the pill and I had had a smear test since then and they never told me I had a cervical ectropion before. It's really made my anxiety bad now because like i said I haven't been on the pill for 6 years so why would I suddenly get a cervical ectropion? I am 40 years old and I have noticed the past couple of years that my hormones seem to be all over the place and around the time of my period I am really bad with mood swings. I'm really concerned about this anyone have any ideas? The nurse said it was nothing to worry about prob coz of the pill but I don't think this is true due to it being so long ago

Hi op@Mystical1981 I've got this, I was seen by gynecology and they did a colposcopy procedure and the consultant told me it's nothing for me to worry about and is not unusual for women 40 +. Try not to worry op .

I’ve had one since I was early 20s, now mid 30s and it’s never caused me any problems.

I had this for years in my 20s/30s, always bled during smears and during sex. I had a laparoscopy for endometriosis a few years ago and they cauterized the ectropian at the same time whilst I was asleep and I haven't had problems again.
