Weird cough, sore throat and painful to swallow.

Started off with aches and a sore throat 5 days ago, thinking here we go, another cold. I'd just recovered from one a couple weeks ago.

But the symptoms haven't really changed or shifted since? No blocked or runny nose. But at times, my throat is like razorblades.

Sometimes I have a tickly cough, other times it's chesty and I've brought up some white or coloured phlegm. Lots of coughing at night

It's not tonsillitis but isn't a normal cold? Has anyone else had something similar?

I'm languishing too, with what instinct tells me is covid but the tests don't agree....

I feel horrible!

Both my daughter and me have exactly the same symptoms. Swallowing is like razor blades. A kind of tickly but chesty cough with really sticky pale yellow phlegm.

I think I've got this too, started really suddenly last night and been feeling steadily worse all today. Had to come home from work.

I've been similarly unwell since Weds. The symptoms seem to vary throughout the day - I wake up with a sore throat, headache and coughing fits bringing up a load of thick phlegm. There's a window where I feel mildly better and then at teatime the coughing fits are back and my sore throat is back - I am tired and feeble !

I feel like I'm never going to improve

The first time I had covid it was like that. I lived on Strepsils.

Oh my goodness yes this is me! I have actually just been trying to google the cough because it’s so weird. Mine has come on suddenly, thought I was coming down with start of a cold last Monday with a vaguely scratchy throat. Thought I’d shaken that off but then all last week was really fatigued, headaches, congested but not really congested weird feeling in my head. Then towards end of week have started with what can only describe as what feels like throat spasm dry wheezy cough which then occasionally turns chesty, worse on morning and night but ok during day. Although, yesterday I actually felt pretty crappy and had that chest pain like when you’ve been running outside on a cold day.

I vote Covid tbh but haven’t tested. The dry throat/cough feels similar to all the other times I’ve had it.
