Itchy ears!!

Every winter I get itchy ears. It's always around the back of both ears, right in the crease where the ear meets the scalp.

The skin ends up dry and sore and then more itchy.

I have tried using Vaseline, intense moisturisers and even tried fungal cream in case it was that. Nothing works. The itching is making me feel insane.

Any advice before I head to the pharmacy?

Could a change of shampoo help? Perhaps your skin is more sensitised in winter? Sorry not to be more help, I get itchy ears but more the inside iykwim?

I wondered about shampoo/ conditioner too.

Antifungal was a good idea, did you use for at least a week perhaps twice a day?

My next option would be hydrocortisone cream, easily available off the shelf as insect bite cream. Apply sparingly as it is a mild steroid that thins the skin. After it sinks in, you could moisturise/ vaseline on top.

You can even get hydrocortisone combined with antifungal to hit both at once - but probably need to ask at the counter.

Thanks both.

They're now really very dry and flakey too, but seem to be slightly less itchy today. I didn't use the antifungal cream for a week, so perhaps I'll give that another go too.

I might look at using a gentle shampoo for a few weeks to see if it helps.
