I slipped on the path a couple of weeks ago and my lower back(top of bum crack) is sore.really starting to irritate me if I am honest now! I am really thinking I would be better going walk in than drs as I probs need X-ray maybe ?
I can only lay on side 🙄 I don’t even know what I have done ffs

I sat on a coccyx cushion for weeks...

I went flying onto a dance floor when very drunk, skittered in my heels and landed HEAVILY on my arse. I'm certain I broke it. However, there's no treatment for a fractured coccyx, so I didn't get it seen!

It does say to get it looked at if not improving.

Ah, a bit like bruised ribs. Not much can be done other than sitting very gently and taking pain killers.

Ah, yes, found walking upstairs (not down) quite painful. Have you taken pain relief?

Geranium1984 · 14/12/2024 21:29

I did this year's ago. It became really painful after about 2 weeks, so I went to Dr and they x rayed. It had a very fine fracture. There's not much you can do to heal it, they gave me pain killers and I had to sit on a doughnut cusion.
Over 15 years later, and it's still mildly painful if I sit on it for long periods of time like long haul flights.

MeatRaffleRita · 14/12/2024 21:37

ooooch

I've hit mine before on the corner of a chest of drawers - it can take a couple of months to heal if you've cracked it. Nothing you can do except wait and be careful for a while

Lisad1975 · 14/12/2024 22:06

Thx all. I just have no time or energy to sit at walk in centre tbh
but god it hurts and is irritating! The skin was very bruised as got my daughter to take photo. May have to pop there I think tho now!

I've had this and the answer was to sit on a cushion that leaves a gap at the back so your coccyx is hanging there in mid air and not touching anything. If you do that every time you sit down then the pain should go in about three days.

This is the NHS advice

MumofSpud · 14/12/2024 22:12

I am in the same position as you - a couple of weeks ago I went to sit on a wheelie chair but it rolled and I landed with a thud!
The initial 2 days were worse now it hurts if I go to sit down
I've had physio, a hot water bottle also helps!
People have said it'll last a few weeks

esmammy · 14/12/2024 22:22

I did mine falling down the stairs. Was so, so painful for months. I was sent to have mine checked out at A&E as it was so painful and had heard some horror story about somebody that had damaged theirs and then it had abscessed! Shock Had to be on really strong painkillers & anti inflammatories the first month!
Definitely get it checked out though, even if it's to get the good stuff to help you cope!
I will warn you if you do get checked out though, they will put a finger where the sun doesn't shine Blush

I think I did this sledging several years ago. Went over a huge bump and landed very hard on my coccyx as was leaning back. It hurt a lot for a while and it irritated for about a year but I had 3 young children and I had literally no time to do anything unless it was life threatening! I thought it was just bruised. It was mostly just annoying after a while, I would get a little reminder if I sat down on a hard chair in a certain way etc. Or I remember going down a water slide about 8 months after and landing in the water thinking, owwwww. It was only that it went on for so long that later I thought it was probably more than a bruise. I'm fine 16 years on!

Slipped on marble stairs and it felt bruised for months. I'm going to say cold pack rather than hot water bottle for a bruise. Or you can alternate.
