Possible chest infection

Second stinking cold in a month. I had just got over the last cough (about six days clear) when this cold started on Tuesday.

It is persistent and very productive. Phlegm is clear. I am very congested and feeling very heavy around the eyes. I have gone through two boxes of tissues.

I have had a little breathlessness but no pain. Otherwise I am very tired and have had a few periods of feeling very cold or flush but there is no temp to speak of although I have been taking paracetamol.

I suspect it's a mild chest infection and have made a GP appointment for Monday morning (there was one on-line Sad). Am now worrying that it's just a cold and I am over-reacting. Do any HCPs think I am wasting an NHS appointment?

For context I have some critical work stuff on Weds/Fri and can't risk being laid up next week. Have been resting since Thursday pm and not feeling rested. Have cancelled family stuff tomorrow because I don't feel up to it.

If sputum is clear and you've had cold symptoms it sounds like a viral upper respiratory tract infection.
Therefore be prepared to be told it's viral.
Signs of chest infection are coloured sputum (green/yellow).
Lots of awful bugs going around hope you feel better soon.

I think I'll keep the apt until 8am on Monday and see how I feel. I'm in court Weds to Friday and can't risk being unable to articulate.
