I had awful tooth pain about 4 weeks ago..went to emergency dentist who couldn't locate exact tooth...had X-rays. Forward to now and I developed an abscess right up top of gum over my first molar towards front. I don't want root canal so was ready to have this tooth out, lovely dentist said it may be as the filling has failed and if we replace filling it may fix it. Has anyone had success with this? I was just ready to have the tooth out...

Why don't you take the dentists advice? I was also ready to have tooth removed and dentist wanted me to have root canal, I followed his advice, 100% did not hurt, no further issues. I love my dentist, NHS, so happy to have one after being kick off in covid.

No advice but going through a similar thing. My dentist gave me antibiotics, said my old root canal was the problem but didn’t seem interested in doing any further work but now a month later my gum is sore again.
