In a really bad way

I don't know where to start with this one, I just feel so shockingly unwell and don't know what to do. I have had Covid-19 recently, started a couple of weeks ago when everything tasted/smelled weird and then I had this really low mood (which is not like me) and was snappy with people. I then came down with cough/cold symptoms and for almost a full week I had a raging temperature, couldn't get warm, sweating, delirious, and continuous cough. I have also had symptoms like anxiety, feeling really low and emotional and just really not myself at all. Can't concentrate on my job, can't make myself do work. Over the last couple of days I have now had the most intense nausea and feeling really sick, can't eat. I have never been this unwell. On top of all this, I know it's embarrassing but I have had threadworms, don't know where I got them from, I'm up all night itching and I also have a horrendous yeast infection so down there is extremely sore. I have been taking drops of oregano oil to kills the threadworms as this is the only thing that worked last time I had them. Over the last two days I have had 7 drops (7 yesterday and 7 today). I am now worried that I have overdosed and that is why I feel so sick, I'm worried that you can overdose and it can be fatal so I'm really scared and worried, and I just can't seem to get rid of the threadworms which are driving me insane. I don't feel well enough to do anything or go anywhere and I can't eat as I feel so sick. I was supposed to be going out this evening but just didn't feel well enough and the waves of nausea are making me feel so panicky. I just don't know what to do.

Have you spoken to your GP?

Can you get somebody to go to the chemist for you to collect some worm meds?

Frosty1000 · 05/12/2024 20:53

I'd stop being so hard on yourself and take time to get better. Speak to a pharmacist re the threadworms and that may reassure you.

I got covid on the 21st November, felt better at the weekend and went to the school Christmas Fayre. I'm now very poorly with a very high temperature, shivering and feeling sick. I know how you feel so sending you a big hug x

tarheelbaby · 05/12/2024 20:54

Ahh, OP, all that sounds miserable. Definitely try to see your GP. Ask for some proper threadworms treatment but also, take it easy on yourself as you recover from COVID and stay off work to recuperate if you can. It can be a real slap in the face.

librathroughandthrough · 05/12/2024 20:57

Sorry to hear you’ve felt so unwell. I would stop with the holistic treatment and seek medical help ASAP. Some of your symptoms could be serious, not for someone to diagnose online. Hope you feel better soon.

MamaWeasel · 05/12/2024 20:57

Are essential oils safe to take orally? I didn't think they were......

Get yourself some Ovex, and some canestan, call in sick to work and have a couple of days to really recover. Preferably get the Dr to sign you off for a week if you can.

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 05/12/2024 20:59

We've been lulled into this idea that we should be better after a few days of rest, but that's simply not true. When you've had a virus that has knocked you hard, you need to rest for several weeks.

I'd recommend going to the GP, and getting some OTC worm medication. And allow yourself more time to rest.

MissyB1 · 05/12/2024 21:02

There are some bad viruses around at the moment, flu cases are are up by hundreds of thousands on last winter. You need to rest and drink loads of fluids, but get some proper threadworm treatment and canesten for your thrush. Get in touch with the GP and get advice (and potentially a sick note).

Pigeonqueen · 05/12/2024 21:11

I would step away from the oregano (😳) and seek some actua medical help. 111.

Ceriane · 05/12/2024 21:23

Thank you. I think the oregano oil has just made me feel a bit sick....I don't have any other symptoms of poisoning, also don't think I've excessively exceeded how much you can have.....it wasn't the essential oil, just pure oregano oil...they recommend 4 drops in water, but I was so desperate to get rid of the threadworm I took 7. When I had it before Ovex didn't work, but oregano oil did....however I will try Ovex again. I just feel horrible and beating myself up about not being able to do my job as I'm too unwell to concentrate (working from home).

Your symptoms are part of the so called 'tridemic virus'
Covid flu and RSV.
It is so rife in my area that pharmacist has been authorised to give out antibiotic.
You need to see your dr.
Taking essential oils will not treat/cure any of your symptoms . Instead it will prolong your illness .

Quademic virus now apparently, norovirus is doing the rounds too!

Calliopespa · 07/12/2024 08:38

There’s lots going round op but I notice your nausea coincides with upping the oregano oil. Nausea and vomiting can be side effects of overdose so I’d stop that asap. Ring your gp.

Ceriane · 07/12/2024 11:33

Thank you. I think it was a combination of Covid-19 and oregano oil that was making me feel sick. I have stopped taking it.
