Constant trapped gas?

I had a tummy upset back in September, diarrhoea, bloating, trapped gas. It took a while to resolve, I had tests done and it was NOT a bacterial cause.

ever since it’s resolved, I still have constant wind. Not always trapped and always passing wind, but the sensation that it’s there.

the left side of my bowel (ribs down to hip) feels always swollen, for example when I wear jeans I can feel my left side pressing against the waistband. I can also frequently feel the gas bubbling on the left side, and sometimes I can even hear it! It’s never anywhere else, just my left side, assuming descending colon?

this has been months now and I’m beginning to think I’ll never be normal again!

has anyone else suffered this or could it be a sign of something more sinister? I’ve never heard of trapped gas being the only symptom of something like a bowel obstruction or cancer but you never know.

im opening my bowels regularly and normal consistency etc so i dont think there’s a blockage. No blood.

any advice gratefully received, it’s horrible, constantly distension, bloated feeling, gas rumbling around, and sometimes pain when it builds up.

Coeliac disease? Bloating is definitely a symptom. You don’t have to have change in bowel habit. My daughter’s symptoms were anaemia and joint pain. Mine were mouth ulcers, infertility and miscarriage.

I was also going to suggest coeliac disease, but I see you've got that covered! Are you also dairy intolerant? A lot of coeliacs are

@MamaWeasel
yes I definitely had gas as a coeliac symptom? It was miraculous when I cut out gluten and been settled ever since.

i cut out dairy during the ‘bug’ and for weeks after, no change and gradually reintroduced to no ill effect so I don’t think it’s that either.

it is just so so bizarre to be having constant gas sensation and only in one place!
