Is this mole anything to worry about?!

Just that really, should I be worried about this mole?

It looks a bit crusty around the edges. I'd get it checked out. I had a weird mole removed earlier this year and it wasn't malignant. It's a quick referral pathway and minor surgery.

Thanks, its feels quite crusty, the jumper I had on today was irritating it and made me think i should maybe get it looked at.

It was a bit stressful waiting for the results - they seem to remove them fairly routinely where I am and send it off for testing. My friend had one removed about a fortnight before mine, hers was malignant and she got called back and they took another chunk of healthy skin away to be sure they had removed everything. But that was it. Nothing further needed.

Please go to see the GP as soon as possible

silentpool · 29/11/2024 02:44

Always check if you are worried - please make an appointment.

Turbulent1 · 29/11/2024 04:38

The crustiness and irritation as well as the different colours mean that you should get that checked. How big is it?

Anon1983678 · 29/11/2024 07:17

Its about the size of a pea, i have zoomed in for pic. Im going to make an appointment today x

Was it an existing mole? It looks a little like a seborrhoeic keratosis but definitely sensible to get your GP to check.

i thought this too and they can be removed especially if they become irritated. Best to get it checked in any case though

Anon1983678 · 29/11/2024 08:13

Thanks, it could actually be that as it did just appear a few years ago x

That needs checking. Has it changed recently?

I've had a couple of moles removed and tested that each ticked at least one of the 'suspicious' boxes and no malignancy. But if there is something - and there's no way of telling for sure just by looking - the sooner you act the better.

Anon1983678 · 29/11/2024 08:52

Thanks, im not sure if its changed its maybe became more crusty but because its on my back its hard to remember x

I have a few of them and the one on my back looked like yours. BUT get it checked out for peace of mind

DP went to the doctor with very similar 'moles' this week. He was told they are not moles, so panic over, but technically more like warts - not sure of the exact term but basic message he brought home was 'not moles, not cancer, sort of warts, just moisturise as the skin is a bit dry'.

Yes seborrhoeic keratosis. Both my mum and I have one each!

Get it checked OP - I think it's a wart too but a GP can refer you if unsure. You could even send a photo and they'll get you in if they want to check.

coffeesaveslives · 30/11/2024 07:38

I'm pretty sure that's a sebherroic

coffeesaveslives · 30/11/2024 07:39

Sorry! Sebherroic keratosis - I have loads. They have a typical "stuck on" appearance almost like candle wax.

I'm saving up to have some removed. They catch on my necklace, bra etc. horrid things

Sapphire29 · 17/12/2024 00:47

Sorry to jump on your post OP but I'm currently sat here at almost 1am googling skin cancer and worrying myself silly. For those of you with seborrheic keratosis would you say this is similar? I have an appointment on Thursday but will drive myself crazy until then. I noticed it 2 months ish ago and was hoping it would have disappeared by now. I wasn't aware of a mole there before now

I had mine checked last week and nurse wasnt concerned, she said I was right to get it looked at though and to come back if it changes shape or gets any bigger.
