Melanoma - 2ww referral

I noticed a black spot on my foot last week and had an online GP appointment on Sunday. I was referred urgently under the 2 week pathway to dermatology with a suspected nodular melanoma and have been given an appointment on Wednesday.

Does anyone know what this is likely to entail? I’ve been told they will check it with a dermascope. If it looks suspicious would they biopsy there and then? Would there be any other tests on the day? Is a dermascope conclusive?

I'm not usually one for health anxiety but I do find it easier to be prepared in advance for this kind of thing!

I've had three moles removed now, the first appointment with the dermatologist is usually just an examination, measurements and photos taken. Each time they have then put me forward for minor out patient surgery to have the mole removed. On one occasion I went back after the mole was removed as it was a melanoma and had to have further skin removed. I went for a couple of check ups after, then was discharged.
